Morten's First Christmas

Per the instructions from the Special Care Nursery, we had a very quiet Christmas at home - just the 3 of us.  We cannot express how happy we were to have Morten home with us!

Here he is in his new bib that Grandma Gove gave him in honor of the day and the snugglebug that Grandma and Grandpa Lund got him while they were visiting.

It looks like the bib will come in handy...

And who else came for the special day?  Is that one of Santa's reindeer??

And is that Rudolf, with the red nose??

The first to receive their presents were of course the dogs.  They got the last toys remaining in a stocking that lasted Taya about 3 Christmases.

And here we are about 2 minutes later...

The dogs also have been having problems with snow packing up in their paws, so they got their own snow boots.  Jim and I had a good laugh at their expense while they tried their snow boots on for the first time.

Morten had the big score for the day.  Here he is, in the obligitory traditional "Christmas loot" picture...

I think I'm missing a few things - I have been trying to put things away as they come.  And you can't fit the car seat in the pack-and-play...  A couple of special little presents are in there - the little wagon ornament is one that Jim's grandfather, or Morten's great-grandfather, made while he was alive.  It was a tradition for Jim's family that they each got a handmade ornament from their grandfather every year - all very meticulously made wooden ornaments.  Grandpa Gove (Jim's father) inscribed Morten's name into this ornament.  Grandpa Gove also got Morten his first hammer - it also has Morten's name inscribed into it.  When Jim was little, he had his own hammer just like this one.

This was the year of the boots! I got a pair of Hunter wellies - which I've been wanting for taking the dogs out in the snow and rain and the muck of spring.

I also got another pair of boots.  I've been salivating over these boots for several years!  They are definitely NOT boots I'll wear in the muck.

Jim also got a pair of boots - Bogg boots - they ARE muck boots.

And he got a couple of special hot rod books.  But because of all the craziness with the hospital, he didn't actually get those books until today...

  2. I'm happy to find out I'm not the only one who takes pictures of their kids with their Christmas presents! I've done it every year since Ryan was born!
