Picking out a Pumpkin

We've gone to the pick your own fruit farms quite a bit over the summer - strawberries, blueberries, apples - and found that we really like Tougas Farm.  We've had a lot of things going on in October - my Team Triumph races and family pictures - so it was a little tough to make it out for pumpkin picking - another must-do fall activity.  So this year, we did a last minute visit over to a place called Volente Farm in Needham to do a quick pumpkin picking.  It's a greenhouse/farmstand very close to where Jim used to have his shop.  We went with our neighbor, Matt, and his daughter Maya.  The kids had a fun time running around the piles of pumpkins and picking out the "perfect" one.  We actually came home with 4 (3 for the steps and one to save for carving)  We also enjoyed a cider donut from inside the farmstand.

You'll notice that the header picture I'm using for the blog right now came from this visit... such a cute picture of Morty!

  1. Your pictures make me jealous! We didn't make it to the pumpkin patch this year...and I was planning on actually carving one this time. and you guys have done a bunch of fun fall activities!! I guess I could pick up some pumpkins on the way home from work tomorrow and carving it can be our FHE. We'll see...

  2. Don't feel too bad - that wasn't a real pumpkin patch! It was a little farm store with pumpkins in bins outside. Good for pictures, though!
