For his first Halloween, Morten was the Gorton's Fisherman. I used a yellow raincoat I had gotten as a hand-me-down from someone at church, I made a gray yarn beard and hat of paper. I bought a pair of rainboots, but I made sure to buy them a little bit large so that he can wear them hopefully in the spring.
Morten's holiday started off with dress-up at the Respite Center. They sent home a cute picture of him and his friend Sydney - she was a jack-o-lantern. It was a little funny - neither one of them was looking at the camera... kind of hard to get two kids with low head tone to look at the camera at the same time!
Then he had a party at Le Petite Monde. Parents were invited to this one. But for some reason, the daycare had the party at noon. Not exactly the most convenient time for working parents... Unfortunately, we didn't make that one.
Then on Saturday, the town of Natick had their "Spooktacular" on the Common. They do this event every year. It's mostly a chance for the kids to all parade around, but they also have things like pumpkin smashing from the top of the fire dept ladder truck, guess the weight of the giant pumpkin, hot cider... They also had characters walking around, and each character got to pick their favorite costume. We were about to leave, and one of the organizers came up and told us that Dora had chosen Morty as her favorite costume. So we stayed so Morty could get his prize!
Here's Morty thrilled at the pumpkin dropping action.

Saturday night we went to a Trunk-or-Treat at church. This is where you park your car in the parking lot, and open your trunk to pass out candy. Some people really decorated their trunks with streamers and lights. (We were happy just to have shown up) There's 3 wards that meet at our building, and they all participated, so there were TONS of kids. Morty put on his beard and helped us pass out candy.
Then Sunday we went to one of our playgroup friends' house for a party. It was a lot of fun. Mostly it was a chance to take pictures of the kids in their costumes!
Morty as the Gorton's Fisherman, Maya as Baby Gaga, Anya as a witch, Matty as Charlie Brown, Reese as an octopus, and Lucy as a puppy.

And what every daddy loves to do!
By the time Sunday night rolled around, Morty was sooo pooped out when we finally let him take a nap, he pretty much missed out on all the trick-or-treating. I think he was fine with that.

I LOVE the fisherman outfit! I couldn't stop laughing when I saw Morty head to toe because it was so cute! That beard is hilarious! Congratulations on winning a prize, Morty! I also love the octopus costume--so cute! At our trunk or treat our trunk was decorated stroller style--as in there was a stroller in it and no decorations.
