Gym Fit

We joined a small local gym with several of my mommy group friends called Gym Fit.  We convinced them to hold a Thursday evening class for us working mommies.  We do a little circle time with singing and stretching, then some ring around the rosie and some walking and some trampoline jumping, and then there's free time to go through an obstacle course that Annette, the owner, puts together with various matts and balance beams and wedges.  Good times.

I wasn't sure how Morty would like it or how it would really work for him, and in fact, some times he has a hard time.  Sometimes I think he gets a little nervous with all the other kids running and jumping next to him because he really doesn't have any way to protect himself.  So I end up doing rolls on the matt with him or take him to do something a little out of the way from the others.  But I think it's important for him to see what other kids his age do, interact with them, and help him experience some of those same things - in his own way, of course.

There's 2 things that Morty REALLY likes to do at Gym Fit - practice walking, and swing on the bars.  I help hold him, but he has a pretty tight grip, and I'm pretty sure he's holding some of his own weight.  Most of the times we hang and swing until his hands slip off, and then do it again and again.

Today at the Saturday "Open Gym", we had daddy with us, so we also did some flips.  He loved it.  (But don't try and get him to roll down the wedge - he still hates that.)

At the end, Annette always brings out a stamp to put on the kids hands or arms.  I'm not sure if Morty can really see what's on the stamp, but he always willingingly participates.

Today he got a kitty cat on each arm.
