The best news is that he was able to come off the CPAP machine and go to oxygen, so it's much easier to see his face. The oxygen started at 2 liters (flow - not sure what how much time for this volume...), went to 1 liter, and was down to 1/2 liter at noon. It is also now at 21% oxygen - which is equivalent to ambient. So he is on his way to getting off the oxygen!
He had high levels of bilirubin, so to prevent jaundice, he had to start light therapy. He gets to wear his super cool preemie shades - they kind of make him look like Zoro:
He also now has a feeding tube. It goes into his nose right now, but it does give him a chance to practice his digestion, rather than just being fed through the IV. His feedings started at 7ml, and have already increased to 12ml. I also have been starting to pump, so we're also able to give him the little bit of breast milk I have been getting - mostly we either put the little bit into his mouth with a syringe, or put a little on his binkie. When I have been able, Jim and I go to the Special Care Nursery, and Morten and I have some "skin to skin" time while he is feeding.
We also were able to be there for a diaper change and weigh in last night:
And here's his toes, which I think he got from me - long monkey toes with a sideways curled small toe:
I was discharged from the hospital today, so we will now be planning how much time I will spend in the Special Care Nursery. I will probably go there for a couple feedings during the day, and then come back later at night with Jim for another feeding.
Tiff and Jim! I am so happy for you! He is absolutely beautiful. I am so glad he is doing so well and you are able to be so close to him. The more contact you are able to have with him, the better he will thrive! My prayers have been and will continue to be with you! Love you Tiff!

We have similar shots of the groovy spy glasses with Ella. She had to "cook" some more to get the yellow out when she was first born.
