8 Weeks

The baby is now the size of a kidney bean. And apparently my uterus is the size of a softball.

It's ears, nose, and lips are forming, and it's starting to get webbed fingers and toes.

And here's my picture for the week:

We had some really good burritos last night, so apologies for the slightly bloated belly. Of course, that's sort of the constant state right now.

We planned to have this baby after I finished my MBA coursework. I finish in December, and the baby is due in late January. Well, the HR lady at work sent out a bombshell email this week saying that they were over-budget on tuition reimbursement, and they were going to only allow one class to be reimbursed for the remainder of the year. I have 4 classes left to finish and get reimbursed - if they only reimburse one, that leaves me with about $3500 - $7000 to cover myself, depending on what they count as the "one". Or drag the degree out - but I can't do work, school, dogs, AND a baby. I talked to her the next day and told her that I was pregnant and have to finish school and tried to negotiate with her on what can be done. She was not particularly any help - kinda mean actually. I went ahead and scheduled some time to phone conference with the General Manager next week. There has got to be a way to work this out.

Our friends Tom & Jen called yesterday to let me know that they are expecting a baby - theirs is due January 1st. So exciting! I didn't tell them yet that we are also expecting. We'll be about 3 weeks apart!
